5 things you didn’t know about OfficeTeam’s flagship distribution hub

Although 2021 has definitely been a year of trials and tribulations for all, it has also been a period of significant transformation. At OfficeTeam, we’re always looking for ways to strengthen our business, and create the most efficient and trusted service for our valued customers.

There’s certainly a lot that we’ve changed this year – and we’re really proud of the progress that we’ve made as a business. As part of our latest investment into our future, you may have seen that we relocated our flagship distribution site to Ashton-under-Lyne, after months of intense behind-the-scenes preparation and hard work.

And what a journey it has been! News of the new Ashton headquarters caused ripples throughout the supply chain industry, and not only among our customers.

So, why is the announcement such big news? Here, we dig a little deeper behind the headlines…

Increased size and capacity

An advancement on OfficeTeam’s previous 179,000sq ft site in Smethwick, this new 275,000sq ft space considerably augments our warehousing capabilities – with a capacity to hold 18,000 palettes and over 22,000 products under one roof. And there’s potential to expand even further in the future!

Introducing state-of-the-art technologies

Our HQ doesn’t just deliver on size – it delivers on technology too!

Industry-leading automation alongside A-frame and pick-by-light systems provide greater efficiency and speed throughout our services, so you can be confident that we will deliver exactly what you need, when you need it.

What’s more, the progressive weighting of product orders means that discrepancies are able to be identified and rectified at source – meaning orders are fulfilled with 99.8% accuracy and customers experience a more streamlined service.

Improving on sustainability

We’re committed to improving our sustainability credentials – and our new flagship Ashton site is already helping us do just that.

With savvy box-cutting solutions that afford smarter packaging and waste reduction, plus our breakthrough electronic powered delivery fleet options, we’re more committed to offsetting our carbon footprint than ever. And there are more announcements to come.

World-class supply chain

OfficeTeam’s partnership with Menzies – the UK’s only national, time-critical logistics specialist – completes our comprehensive distribution network, and empowers our customers with an even greater degree of control and flexibility.

Flexible delivery options

Some of the offerings from our new site – with the support of our expert partners – include next day or night delivery, as well as drops to a specified desktop or floor, pallet services and key drop, all tracked and traced across Europe.

We consider this transition another important milestone for OfficeTeam – and it’s just the latest in a series of significant investments into the future of OT Group, evidencing our vision to be the most trusted go-to partner in the business solutions market.

And as we strive to futureproof the organisation even further, to provide the most efficient end-to-end business solution for our customers, we’re already looking to make significant investment in additional warehouse management technologies to the site – more on this update as it unfolds.
