National Stationery Week celebrates the written word and all things stationery. Their aim is to encourage more adults and children to put pen to paper and celebrate the power of the written word. As a stationer ourselves we couldn’t agree more!
From childhood we are told how important good handwriting is in both business and life in general. We are also told how fundamental writing is as a form of communicating with one another – from job applications and official forms, to greetings cards and shopping lists, this is one life skill we shouldn’t neglect.
We’ve all sat through countless handwriting exercises to ensure our words are neat and legible. However in this current day and age, infants are already familiar with touch screen and smart devices, with their enticing sounds and the allure of the bright screens – who can blame them?
Picking up a pen or pencil is sometimes seen as a task in itself, especially when we can now communicate with the swipe of a hand…literally! Although back in 1888 when OfficeTeam began, the thought of communicating without putting pen to paper would’ve been incomprehensible. Fast forward 127 years we are still flying the flag for stationery – whether they may be traditional office supplies or more contemporary products.
So this week we will be embracing National Stationery Week and also taking part in various fun activities in the office; to remind us of what life would’ve been like when we were a small legal stationers.
