Workplace solutions provider achieves Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation

Industry-leading workplace solutions supplier, OT Group, has achieved Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation as part of its ongoing commitment to customer security.

The ‘Plus’ certification — a step up from Cyber Essentials (basic) self-certification — requires an external vulnerability scan and verification by an independent body.

The application of these measures will see the business able to improve operations, as well as have a significant impact on sales revenue and account retention, as customers can be confident that the company meets the high cyber security standards backed by the UK Government.

The move also comes as OT Group looks to expand further into the public sector space, as the certification is a requirement for government frameworks.

Group IT director at OT, David Harvell, commented: “Our customers’ security is of utmost importance to us, and this certification is the formalisation and external verification of the practices we already had in place to keep our customers safe.

“Our ability to deliver the project in just eight weeks highlights that we’ve had the infrastructure for some time, but we are extremely pleased to achieve this recognition to further highlight that this is something that we take very seriously.”

Andrew Jones, chief executive officer, commented: “The IT team has put in an incredible effort to achieve this accreditation, and it showcases OT Group’s proposition to support all businesses in the workplace of the future – as we know that cyber security is high on their priority list.”

The program was delivered in eight weeks by project delivery manager James Pegram and the IT team, with direction from project manager Alison Allan — who joined the business in January, bringing additional cyber security experience — and IT security manager Philip Chapman.

External vendor Exponential E also worked in conjunction with the in-house team to achieve the certification.
