“A short rest period during the working day, in which people typically drink a cup of tea or coffee”
Officially taking place on Friday 25th September 2015, World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Starting as a local fundraising event in 1991 the event has grown into a nationwide event and 24 years on it is still going. Last year over 154,000 people registered their coffee morning and a record £20 million was raised!!!
The charity invites people to hold their own coffee mornings across the UK and beyond and donate the proceeds to Macmillan.
A coffee break has become an integral part of the working day and with 400 cups consumed by Brits a year there is no sign of this becoming redundant any time soon or so you’d think.
Recent studies suggest due to heavy workloads, employees aren’t getting the chance to engage in this pastime. This sounds like great news for employers however studies show that regular tea and coffee breaks help boost productivity, creativity and a sense of work/life balance.
Why a coffee morning?
Whether at home or work, making a cup of tea or coffee is a perfect chance for us to catch up and take some time out from our busy schedules. With 1 in 3 people diagnosed with cancer, supporting a cause like this is a great way to ensure no one faces cancer alone.
One of the roles as an employer is taking care of the well-being of your workforce. We can help by offering a great selection of quality products from our new TeaTime essentials range at competitive prices, including leading brands as well as an extensive range of own brand product alternatives. From tea and coffee to break time treats like biscuits and chocolates we have a range suitable to meet the needs of all your employees and help kick start your coffee morning. We are doing our bit – are you?
On Friday 2nd October we will be holding our own coffee morning to raise money for two very worthwhile charities that need our support – Macmillan Cancer Support and The Early Birth Association, Brighton Hospital.
From homemade cakes to raffles we have a number of fundraising activities taking place on the day.
