Vacancy – Trainee Production Assistant

Job Description:

The successful candidate will join the small team at Document production based in our offices located near City Airport in East London. Whilst the successful candidate will primarily assist in the administration of the busy print room the suitable candidate will also be flexible enough to get involved in production matters wherever needed.

 

Essential Skills:

Excellent phone manner and the ability to take clear concise messages.

Good PC knowledge essential, knowledge of Microsoft packages and creating and manipulating Adobe Acrobat files (pdf) a great advantage.

Specific duties include (but not limited to)

Answering and dealing with incoming telephone calls from clients and suppliers.
Answering queries raised via telephone, email or post and ensuring that they are responded to within reasonable timescales.
Booking in incoming jobs on job record system (training given on software)
costing completed jobs and raising invoices on invoicing system (training given)
Filing and maintenance of customer records
Preparation of quotations for print requirements using Excel spreadsheets ensuring that accurate quotations are prepared. (training given)
A hands-on approach to assisting with the setting of documents for customers using Microsoft Word and various other PC packages.
Helping out in the print department when additional assistance required and assisting in page checking and proof reading if needed. An eye for accuracy essential.
Candidate Profile:

The idea candidate will be looking to learn all aspects of document production from printing and document creation. They will be a fast learner and display the ability to take clear concise instructions from customers. Accuracy is an essential requirement. The candidate will be confident and be able to stay calm when working under pressure. The Candidate should be computer literate and will be able to learn various packages (Microsoft and Adobe) to a required standard.

Although primarily a 9-5 job there are occasions when the successful applicant would be expected to work beyond these hours to ensure that clients deadlines are met. So flexibility on working hours is essential.

Because the team is extremely small the successful candidate will be versatile and willing to help out wherever required.
