Who is Gardner Aerospace?

Gardner Aerospace is a leading international manufacturer of aerospace finished components, comprising simple to highly complex and small to very large machined and sheet metal fabricated detailed parts, with substantial speed shop, assembly and kitting capabilities. The company was acquired by Chinese firm Ligeance Aerospace Technology Co. Ltd (formerly SLMR) in June 2017.

Gardner Aerospace serves key aerospace suppliers including Airbus, Embraer, Gulfstream, Pilatus, Spirit, GKN, Stelia Aerospace, Ruag and Safran and employs more than 2,000 people worldwide and has an annual turnover of over $300 million. It is committed to manufacturing excellence, with 17 world-class facilities in the UK, France, Poland, India, and soon to come China, providing customers with the advantages of a high-quality and substantial internal low-cost supply chain through a single point of access.

The challenge

The production and distribution cost of Gardner Aerospace’s global company in-house magazine was costly from a design, print and distribution perspective. The external company they used through an intermediary company would deliver bulk supplies of the magazine to Gardner Aerospace’s Headquarters, who would then have the task of distributing the magazine to its sites worldwide.

As part of a new corporate initiative Gardner Aerospace made the decision to bring the design and layout in-house which resulted in significant savings and gave them greater production control and the opportunity to make savings on their print costs. They came to OfficeTeam’s specialist Print division, PrintTeam as they already trusted and had a good relationship with OfficeTeam as the supplier of their office consumables.

Our solution

The specification was sent to PrintTeam and later changed but through close communication via the phone, email and in-person we provided Gardner Aerospace with a personalised approach and solution.

PrintTeam sense checked all designs, dealt with the printing of the magazine and directly managed its distribution and shipping. Additional design support was provided by PrintTeam’s in-house design studio, who gave indispensable support in the early stages as Gardner Aerospace got to grips with the complexity of bringing the magazine in-house.

The outcome

Significant time and cost savings have been made through the support of PrintTeam to help Gardner Aerospace bring the design of the magazine in-house and ship directly to their global sites. Gardner Aerospace has also received very positive feedback on the quality of the finished magazine.

Our two companies already had a mature relationship and Gardner Aerospace were keen to identify what additional services OfficeTeam could provide them. Our friendly and personal service has been well received and we look forward to developing our partnership in the future.
