The challenge

Due to lack of pro-activity and weak relationships with previous suppliers, Pesto was in search of a strong relationship with their chosen supplier. Pesto found that its suppliers were not able to keep up with the fastmoving nature of the food industry, in addition to providing poor product quality. As a result Pesto was not only in search of strong supplier relationships but improvement in product quality and service within the overall basket offer.

Our solution

At the beginning of the year, FacilitiesSuppliesTeam sat down with Pesto and agreed a site by site implementation plan. The brief was to increase product quality throughout the range where possible, whilst ensuring there was no cost increase across the overall base.

In order to implement these changes, FacilitiesSuppliesTeam worked closely with Diversy – a leading provider in cleaning, sanitation and hygiene solutions. FacilitiesSuppliesTeam went over and above competitor offerings and provided both site and centre meetings to work through any issues, with the added extra of new product presentations and sample products from the following brands; SYR (buckets, mops, brushware), Diversey (cleaning chemicals) and Ekko (environmentally friendly hand wipes). This was the platform for the ‘tailored’ Pesto offer, and allowed the chain to reach the standards it was looking for. FacilitiesSuppliesTeam has now been able to consolidate Pesto’s supply chain and continues to provide a single source solution. In addition, Pesto now uses OfficeTeam to supply its stationary and workwear products.

Who is Pesto?

Pesto is a restaurant chain specialising in Italian Piattini – which translates to small dishes. Since the first Pesto restaurant opened in Manchester in 2006, it has gone on to open eight restaurants nationwide in a variety of locations. With 400 employees, it continues to deliver high standards of food and hospitality at sensible prices.
