This opportunity was to provide uniforms for Ramsay’s reception and administration staff. It was felt that their existing uniforms didn’t reflect the quality service Ramsay offered, being very basic and outdated. The existing supplier offered an extensive range with long lead times for any new orders. Ramsay required a new bespoke exciting uniform that reflected their brand, with reduced lead times that could be sustained over a period of time.
WorkwearTeam took Ramsay direct to the manufacturer and allowed them to view all the different styles available to them. Out of all the uniforms available to Ramsay they managed to whittle it down two separate styles and after further discussions settled upon their final choice. Based upon their choice our workwear team then designed a bespoke blouse at a reasonable price that highlighted the Ramsay brand along with a bespoke branded tie.
All garments had Tax Tabs applied, which is a small tag carrying the Ramsay logo and are sewn into their garments as a subtle form of branding and also assisting in negating the tax implications for Ramsay and their staff.
Once the range had been chosen WorkwearTeam undertook wearer trials. A select group of staff wore the uniforms for three weeks and followed instructions as to caring for the garments. After the trials we collected the garments and met with Ramsay to inspect them and ensure that they were fit for purpose. We also issued a questionnaire to the wearers to obtain their feedback from the trial.
Everything was positive from the trials. We then obtained data from the previous supplier, that we analysed, and evaluated quarterly demand (approximately 5,500 garments). We then ordered prepaid shelf stock so that new uniforms except for the bespoke designed blouse and tie were immediately available.
The manufacturing times for the blouse as a bespoke items was lengthy so, in the meantime, we created a similarly designed blouse based from readily available stock as a stopgap.
By combining readily available manufactured garments with a bespoke tie and blouse we have created a unique uniform, that meets all the requirements of the brief we were originally given by Ramsay Health Care.
We have also produced a uniform guide for Ramsay Health Care working in conjunction with their HR department.
“The process has been great, Celia is a great asset and her knowledge of the garments has helped our workwear trials and implementation. I look forward to working on future projects to bring all the uniforms on board. Uniform projects can be slow and tricky as you are trying to please everyone but the project plan is good tracker which keeps everyone on track and the communication is key.” – Ramsay Health Care
