Who are Taylor&Emmet

Taylor&Emmet is one of the leading and most successful law firms in the South Yorkshire and Derbyshire regions. A position it has held for over 150 years and recognised by The Legal 500. To maintain this enviable position Taylor&Emmet have invested significantly in its business especially in terms of their geographical coverage, number of offices, technology and the quality and ability of their people.


The challenge

Taylor&Emmet and OfficeTeam have enjoyed a tremendous working partnership for over 20 years. With Taylor&Emmet stating “Our account manager has consistently strived and succeeded to provide a quality service to Taylor&Emmet and has a great business relationship with many of their key personal”.

With a growing base of offices and staff numbers, OfficeTeam’s account manager was challenged by the Facilities Manager at Taylor&Emmet to assist in reducing the number of suppliers the firm was dealing with, reduce petty cash expenditure and reduce the number of ad-hoc orders across the firm especially from the more remote and out of town regional offices. The Facilities Manager wanted greater visibility of the firm’s supply chain, and to reduce the number of suppliers it was dealing with. Many of their offices were using multiple suppliers, which only accounted for a small proportion of the firm’s spend, but were creating extra administration and disruption internally whilst not assisting in allowing the company to benefit from savings through economies of scale or have control of managing and maintaining budgets.


Our solution

From analysing Taylor&Emmet’s purchasing patterns we presented a proposal which streamlined their supplier base, created a single source solution and allowed them to make significant cost savings.

This involved Taylor&Emmet implementing our online ordering system SmartPad, which allows customers to order all of their supplies through just one portal – a change which has been welcomed by all Taylor&Emmet users, as it helps to save time and provide management with the visibility and control they strived for.

We have also consolidated Taylor&Emmet’s deliveries of items such as catering, janitorial supplies and general stationery supplies into one weekly delivery which has helped to increase efficiencies and reduce carbon emmisions.


The outcome

Taylor&Emmet now have complete control, visibility and management of their purchases, with consolidated weekly deliveries scheduled into each office, creating less disruption than the previous ad-hoc process allowing staff to get on with their day jobs. Our account manager is also able to prepare management reports to the business so they are finally able to keep tabs on office budgets, and the products being ordered allowing Taylor&Emmet to make purchasing decisions on accurate easily accessible information.

Once a week deliveries also assist the firm in reducing its carbon footprint in line with their own CSR policies. With a main office being located in Sheffield City Centre, the UK’s greenest city, and offices in the beautiful Peak District, it is something Taylor&Emmet are passionate about.
